In an one way game, Spain has consistently imposed Portugal 1-0 to win the right to face Paraguay in the quarter-finals 2010 World Cup. The Lusitano were too limited offensively to worry the European champions.

David Villa breakthrough on scoring in the 63rd minute against Portugal. Spain has been the hardest and must continue if the players want to get away. The expulsion of Ricardo Costa for a few obvious bad move on Capdevilla swept the last hopes Portuguese. That was all for a match which Spain will ultimately not much shaken, but the show was mostly or again not to go, especially because a very limited Portuguese selection.

Qualification logic of Spain, much more enterprising than Portugal has adopted a wait too for most of the meeting. Not a great night of Eduardo, the addition would have been even more salt to the selecção …

Man of the Match:
David Villa - In a game where Spain were again unable to quite hit the heights they are capable of, they required another goal from their predatory forward who claimed his fourth of the tournament to settle this second-round tie and move level with Robert Vittek and Gonzalo Higuain at the top of the goalscoring charts. Villa was a constant menace, as ever, and continues to demonstrate why he is the most feared striker in South Africa.
